An existing customer needed their tired liner pool refurbished. This renovation project was planned to be completed in two stages, allowing the client to manage the costs within their budget constraints.

Client vision

Initially, the client requested only a replacement for their torn liner. However, during the consultation, they expressed a desire to enhance the overall aesthetics of the pool. The client wanted to update the old fiberglass Roman-end steps so they could be lined with a domestic liner and replace the outdated concrete coping stones. Their goal was to achieve a modern look while ensuring the pool remained functional and visually appealing.

What can I say, Nigel has been a godsend since we first started using him over 5 years ago to help with our aging pool. We decided on a complete overhaul: new liner, electric cover, replacement coping stones, patio, steps, filtration, pipework, air source heat pump to replace the gas boiler, and a salt water system for my son’s eczema. Nigel completed the entire job, guiding us through all options and ideas. It was a massive undertaking, and we are thrilled with the final result. The pool looks amazing and is more economical to run. I cannot recommend Nigel enough.

Our solution

To meet the client’s needs, we began by installing new black granite coping stones to give the pool a sleek, contemporary feel. The old fiberglass walk-in steps were modified and lined to match the pool, incorporating anti-slip treads in a contrasting color for improved underwater visibility.

We enhanced the pool’s functionality by installing a new surface skimmer and an automatic water top-up system, which eliminated the need for manual hose top-ups and ensured the pool maintained a consistent water level. Additionally, we replaced the standard white pool fittings with black ones to match the updated design, including the main drain and pool light.

The torn liner was replaced with a pearl-effect dark patterned liner, giving the water a beautiful turquoise blue appearance. We also installed RGBW LED lighting, which not only improved the pool’s aesthetics but also provided a more inviting swimming environment.

In the second stage of the renovation, we laid grey granite large format paving around the pool, enhancing the surrounding area’s look. We also installed new plant room equipment, including a fully automated salt water chlorination system and an inverter air source heat pump to ensure the pool was easy to maintain and energy-efficient.

Finally, to complete the modernization of the pool, we installed a polycarbonate slatted cover. This addition provided safety and enhanced the pool’s sleek, modern look.

Through careful planning and execution, we delivered a renovated pool that exceeded the client’s expectations while staying within their budget constraints.
