The client aimed to modernise their existing 1970s swimming pool, which had become increasingly difficult to maintain. They desired a high-end, contemporary look with clean, minimalist aesthetics. Additionally, they sought to enhance the pool’s functionality with a more efficient filtration system and innovative lighting solutions to create a luxurious and safe swimming environment.
To bring the client’s vision to life, we began by remodelling the old pool shell installing sleek corner steps with a lengthways tanning ledge, preserving the pool’s length while providing a stylish and practical feature. A cover pit was constructed as an addition onto the existing pool, this would house a submerged polycarbonate slatted cover. The cover pit lid was made from Iroko hardwood.
We installed all new pool fittings including multiple RGBW LED Lights. A pool automatic water top-up etc. The pool was fully re-piped underground to function as new and provide years of reliable use.
The pool was lined in a Larch finish on-site welded type liner, the woodgrain giving the anti-slip texture for the steps and tanning ledge. This colour liner has given the pool water a beautiful colour.
We then upgraded the pool with all new filtration equipment, a fully automated salt water chlorination system, complemented by an additional UV steriliser, allowing the pool to operate with lower residual chlorine levels and ensuring better water quality and bather comfort with reduced maintenance efforts.
To improve energy efficiency, we installed an inverter air source heat pump, providing effective and eco-friendly heating for the pool. Throughout the project, we collaborated closely with the client to refine and finalise the design, ensuring their vision was fully realised. We enhanced the pool’s ambiance with colour-changing LED lights and a polycarbonate cover with clear deflector fins, allowing the LED lights to create a striking visual effect while defining the pool edge for added safety whilst the cover was in place.
We maintained a seamless look, by installing a hidden electric polycarbonate cover discreetly placed under hardwood decking boards. Two stainless steel beams supported the edge natural stone coping, providing a clean, uniform finish around the whole perimeter of the pool while ensuring the pool cover remained unobtrusive. Through meticulous planning and execution, we transformed the outdated pool into a modern, high-end retreat that met all of the client’s desires and requirements.
